Join us for an evening event on the USS Yorktown on Wednesday, September 27th, from 5:30 pm to 9 pm

5:30 pm – 6:30 pm – Arrivals/Reception
Location:  Fantail
Sunset: 7:09 pm

Enjoy cocktails and small bites on the historic fantail of the USS Yorktown.  Here you will see some of the city's most spectacular views as the sun begins to set over downtown.  You also will be free to explore the deck of the USS Yorktown on your own throughout the evening, so make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.

6:30 pm – 8:30 pm – Dinner
Location:  Hanger Bay 3

Dinner will be served right where Naval War planes were once kept when not in active use.  The USS Yorktown was the tenth aircraft carrier to serve in the United States Navy.  She played a significant role in the Pacific Offensive, which ended in 1945 after defeating Japan.  The ship received the Presidential Unit Citation and earned 11 battle stars for her service in World War II.  In the 1960s, she was involved in the Vietnam War, and in 1968, she recovered the Apollo 8 astronauts, the first men to orbit the moon.  The ship was decommissioned just two years later and was dedicated as a museum to Charleston in 1975.
